Follow The Directions

01

Step
5 mins

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.

02

Step
5 mins

Using a sharp knife, carefully cut off the root end of the squash, halve it lengthwise, and scoop out the seeds and stringy fibers with a spoon. Brush the cut sides with olive oil and place squash on the prepared baking sheet, cut sides down.

03

Step
45 mins

Bake until the skin is easily pierced with a fork and the flesh is tender, approximately 45 minutes.

04

Step
4 mins

While the squash is baking, cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy and browned, about 3 to 4 minutes. Transfer the bacon to a paper towel-lined plate to drain.

05

Step
5 mins

Remove the squash from the oven and allow it to cool slightly until it is comfortable to handle. Use a fork to scrape out the flesh, creating long, spaghetti-like strands, separating them from the shell.

06

Step
2 mins

Heat a large pan over medium heat and melt the butter. Add the minced garlic and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds. Add the spaghetti squash strands, toss to coat with the garlic butter, and cook until heated through, stirring frequently, about 2 minutes.

07

Step
2 mins

Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the grated Parmesan cheese. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. Gently toss to coat the strands, allowing the cheese to melt slightly. Garnish with the crispy bacon, fresh oregano, and a sprinkle of red pepper flakes. Serve immediately.

For a vegetarian option, omit the bacon and consider adding a sprinkle of toasted pine nuts for added texture and flavor.
Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes to your liking. A pinch of cayenne pepper can also be used for extra heat.
Freshly grated Parmesan cheese is highly recommended for the best flavor and melting quality.
