Follow The Directions

01

Step
2 mins

In a large glass or ceramic bowl, whisk together the water, sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, and ground ginger until the sugar is dissolved. (Approximately 2 minutes)

02

Step
12 hrs

Add the beef short ribs to the marinade, ensuring each rib is thoroughly coated. Cover the bowl tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 8 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to fully penetrate the meat. (8-12 hours)

03

Step
5 mins

Preheat your outdoor grill to medium-high heat and lightly oil the grate to prevent sticking. (Approximately 5 minutes)

04

Step
1 mins

Remove the short ribs from the marinade, allowing any excess to drip off. Discard the remaining marinade.

05

Step
7 mins

Place the marinated ribs on the preheated grill and cook for 3 to 4 minutes per side, or until they are evenly browned and slightly charred. For medium doneness, an instant-read thermometer inserted into the center of the ribs should read 145°F (63°C). Adjust cooking time as needed to reach your desired level of doneness. (6-8 minutes)

06

Step
5 mins

Remove the Kalbi Ribs from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes before serving. This allows the juices to redistribute, resulting in even more tender and flavorful ribs.

For an even more intense flavor, consider adding a tablespoon of grated fresh ginger and a pinch of red pepper flakes to the marinade.
If you don't have an outdoor grill, you can also cook these ribs under the broiler in your oven. Broil for 4-5 minutes per side, keeping a close eye to prevent burning.
Serve these Kalbi Ribs with steamed rice, kimchi, and a variety of Korean side dishes for a complete and authentic meal.
