Drain and Mash: Carefully drain the steamed vegetables, removing as much excess water as possible.

Enrich and Season: Mash the vegetables using a hand masher or an electric mixer for a smoother consistency. Gradually add the milk and butter, continuing to mash until you achieve your desired consistency. Season generously with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.

Serve: Serve immediately while warm. Garnish with a sprinkle of fresh herbs or a drizzle of melted butter, if desired.

For a richer flavor, brown the butter slightly before adding it to the mashed vegetables.

If you prefer a vegan option, substitute the milk and butter with plant-based alternatives.
