Follow The Directions

01

Step
10 mins

Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add the chopped bacon, torn turkey meat, and sliced onion. Cook until the bacon is evenly browned and the onion is tender and translucent. (Approximately 8-10 minutes)

02

Step
30 mins

Stir in the tomato puree, brown sugar, and prepared mustard. Season with salt and pepper. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, then reduce the heat to low. Simmer, uncovered, for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.

03

Step
15 mins

Add the drained and rinsed kidney beans and cannellini beans to the soup. If needed, add water or broth to ensure the ingredients are just covered. Continue to cook, stirring occasionally, until the beans are heated through and the flavors have melded. (Approximately 10-15 minutes)

For a richer flavor, consider using smoked turkey instead of deli turkey.
A bay leaf added during the simmering process will enhance the depth of flavor; remember to remove it before serving.
If you prefer a smoother soup, you can use an immersion blender to partially puree the soup before adding the beans.

I used chicken broth instead of water, and it gave the soup a richer flavor. Definitely recommend!
