Follow The Directions

01

Step

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Position a rack in the center of the oven. (5 minutes)

02

Step

In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Gradually add 1 cup of flour, mixing until a smooth dough forms. (5 minutes)

03

Step

Divide the dough into 12 equal portions. Press each portion evenly into the bottom and up the sides of a 12-cup muffin tin, creating small tart shells. (10 minutes)

04

Step

In a small saucepan, combine the slivered almonds, brown sugar, and 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Stir in the heavy cream and 2 teaspoons of flour. Cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture comes to a boil and thickens slightly. (10 minutes)

05

Step

Evenly distribute the almond mixture among the prepared tart shells. (5 minutes)

06

Step

Bake in the preheated oven until the tops are golden brown and the crust edges are lightly browned, approximately 10 to 15 minutes. (15 minutes)

07

Step

Let the tarts cool slightly in the muffin tin for 10 to 15 minutes before carefully removing them. Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. (15 minutes)

For a deeper almond flavor, toast the slivered almonds lightly in a dry skillet before adding them to the topping mixture.
If you don't have a muffin tin, you can bake this as one large tart in a tart pan with a removable bottom. Adjust baking time accordingly.
These tarts are best enjoyed the same day they are baked, but they can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
