For a richer flavor, substitute melted butter for the canola oil. An egg wash (1 egg beaten with 1 tablespoon of water) brushed on before baking will give the buns a beautiful shine. Sesame seeds, poppy seeds, or everything bagel seasoning can be sprinkled on top of the buns before baking for added flavor and texture. If you don't have a bread machine, you can knead the dough by hand or with a stand mixer until smooth and elastic.
