Follow The Directions

01

Step

Preheat your oven to a roaring 450 degrees F (230 degrees C). This high heat is key to achieving that beautiful char.

02

Step

In a bowl, gently massage the broccoli florets with olive oil, ensuring each piece is lightly coated. Season generously with sea salt and freshly cracked black pepper. (2 minutes)

03

Step

Lay out a large sheet of heavy-duty aluminum foil on a baking sheet. Transfer the seasoned broccoli to the center. Bring the long sides of the foil together and fold over several times to create a tight, sealed packet, leaving some room for steam to circulate. Fold in the short sides to seal completely.

04

Step

Carefully place the foil packet in the preheated oven and bake for 10 minutes. This steams the broccoli, ensuring it's tender before the roasting begins. (10 minutes)

05

Step

Remove the packet from the oven and carefully open it, allowing steam to escape away from your face. Sprinkle the broccoli evenly with the grated Parmesan cheese. (2 minutes)

06

Step

Return the opened packet to the oven and continue baking until the floret tips are beautifully blackened and the stalks are tender and a vibrant greenish-brown, approximately 10 minutes more. Keep a close eye to prevent burning. (10 minutes)

For extra flavor, add a pinch of red pepper flakes or a clove of minced garlic to the broccoli before roasting.
Don't overcrowd the foil packet; ensure the broccoli is in a single layer for even cooking.
Serve immediately as a side dish, or toss with pasta for a simple and satisfying meal.
