Follow The Directions

01

Step

In a large saucepan or Dutch oven, heat olive oil and butter together over medium heat. Add the sausage and diced onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until the onion softens and begins to brown, about 10 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes.

02

Step

Add the diced green bell peppers, chopped zucchini, crushed tomatoes, chicken broth, rice, Worcestershire sauce, and bay leaf to the saucepan. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer until the rice is tender and the sauce has thickened, about 15 minutes.

03

Step

Gently stir in the chopped cooked chicken and peeled cooked shrimp. Continue to simmer until the chicken and shrimp are heated through, about 1-2 minutes. Remove the bay leaf before serving.

For a richer flavor, consider using andouille sausage instead of Polish sausage.
Adjust the amount of Worcestershire sauce to your taste preference. A dash of hot sauce can also add a nice kick.
Feel free to add other vegetables such as celery or diced tomatoes for added texture and flavor.
Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley or green onions for a pop of color.

I didn't have any zucchini on hand, so I used a red bell pepper instead. Still turned out delicious!

The tip about letting it sit for 5 minutes before serving is key! The flavors really do come together.

This recipe is fantastic! The flavors are so rich and satisfying, and it's great knowing it's a bit healthier than traditional jambalaya.
