Recipe View Cook on High for about 1 hour, or until the mixture nearly comes to a simmer. Then, reduce the heat to Low and continue cooking for another 1-1.5 hours, or until the beef is very tender and the sauce has thickened to your desired consistency.

For an even deeper flavor, consider marinating the beef in the red wine, soy sauce, and Worcestershire sauce mixture for at least 2 hours, or even overnight, before cooking.
If you don't have dry brown gravy mix, you can thicken the sauce at the end of the cooking time by creating a slurry of 1 tablespoon of cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons of cold water. Stir the slurry into the sauce and cook until thickened.
Feel free to add other vegetables to the slow cooker, such as sliced mushrooms, carrots, or celery, for added flavor and nutrition.
Serve over egg noodles, mashed potatoes, or rice.

The aroma while it was cooking was incredible! My family couldn't wait for dinner. I used a Cabernet Sauvignon, and it was perfect.

I found that simmering on low for an extra half hour really made the beef melt in your mouth. Great recipe!
