Follow The Directions

01

Step

In a medium saucepan, whisk together the yellow mustard, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, granulated sugar, water, distilled white vinegar, chili powder, black pepper, white pepper, cayenne pepper, and soy sauce. (Prep time: 5 minutes)

02

Step

Place the saucepan over medium-low heat and gently simmer, stirring occasionally, until the sugars are fully dissolved and the flavors have melded beautifully. (Cook time: 20 minutes)

03

Step

Stir in the salted butter and liquid smoke. Continue to simmer, stirring until the butter is melted and fully incorporated, creating a rich and smooth sauce. (Simmer time: 10 minutes)

For a spicier kick, increase the amount of cayenne pepper to your preference.
Taste and adjust seasonings as needed. A pinch of salt or an extra dash of vinegar can fine-tune the flavor.
This sauce can be made ahead of time and stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. The flavors will continue to develop over time.
Experiment with different types of mustard for a unique twist on the classic Carolina flavor.
