Follow The Directions

01

Step

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. (5 minutes)

02

Step

Cut in the cold butter by rubbing the mixture between your fingers or using a pastry blender until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in the raisins. (10 minutes)

03

Step

In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and milk. Add to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined, forming a soft dough. Be careful not to overmix. (5 minutes)

04

Step

On a lightly floured surface, gently roll the dough out to 1/4 inch thickness. Use a round cutter (about 2-3 inches in diameter) dipped in flour to stamp out scones. Re-roll the dough scraps as needed to get approximately 12 scones. (10 minutes)

05

Step

Heat a dry, non-stick griddle or large skillet over medium heat. Cook each side of the scones for 5-7 minutes, or until slightly raised and golden brown. (15 minutes)

06

Step

Transfer the cooked scones to a wire rack to cool slightly. Serve warm and enjoy! (5 minutes)

For best results, use cold butter and handle the dough gently to avoid tough scones.
If you don't have raisins, feel free to substitute with other dried fruits like currants or chopped dried cranberries.
These scones are best enjoyed fresh, but can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. Reheat gently before serving.
