For a spicier kick, use a spicier chorizo sausage or add a pinch of red pepper flakes. Feel free to customize the vegetables to your liking. Bell peppers, carrots, or celery would also be delicious additions. If you don't have garlic & butter flavored rice, you can use plain rice and add a pat of butter and a pinch of garlic powder to the soup. This soup is even better the next day, as the flavors have more time to develop. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
