Follow The Directions

01

Step

Bloom the Gelatin: Sprinkle the gelatin over cool water in a small bowl. Let stand until softened and dissolved, about 5 minutes.

02

Step

Infuse the Cream: In a medium saucepan, combine heavy cream, milk, sugar, lemon zest, and the split vanilla bean. Heat over medium heat, stirring frequently, until the mixture comes to a gentle simmer. (Approximately 8 minutes).

03

Step

Simmer and Infuse: Reduce the heat to low and simmer gently for about 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld. Remove from heat and discard the vanilla bean pod.

04

Step

Dissolve Gelatin: Stir the bloomed gelatin mixture into the hot cream mixture until completely dissolved. Ensure there are no lumps.

05

Step

Incorporate Jam: Gently stir in the strawberry jam until evenly distributed throughout the mixture.

06

Step

Chill: Pour the panna cotta mixture into individual dessert cups or ramekins. Cover each with plastic wrap, pressing it gently onto the surface to prevent a skin from forming. Refrigerate for at least 6 hours, or preferably overnight, until fully set.

For a richer flavor, use vanilla extract instead of a vanilla bean.
Adjust the sweetness of the panna cotta based on the sweetness of your strawberry jam.
To easily unmold, dip the bottom of the dessert cups briefly in warm water before inverting onto a plate.

The panna cotta was perfectly creamy. Next time, I might try a different flavor of jam.
