Follow The Directions

01

Step

In a large skillet, cook bacon over medium-high heat, turning occasionally, until crisp, about 10 minutes. Drain bacon on paper towels, reserving 2 tablespoons of bacon drippings in the skillet. Crumble the bacon and transfer to a slow cooker.

02

Step

Add ground beef and chopped onion to the skillet with the reserved bacon drippings. Cook over medium heat, breaking up the beef with a spoon, until the beef is browned and the onion is softened, about 5-10 minutes. Drain off any excess grease and transfer the beef mixture to the slow cooker.

03

Step

In a separate bowl, whisk together brown sugar, barbecue sauce, ketchup, mustard, molasses, liquid smoke flavoring, black pepper, and chili powder until well combined. Pour the sauce mixture over the beef and bacon in the slow cooker. Stir well to combine.

04

Step

Add the baked beans, kidney beans, Great Northern beans, and pinto beans to the slow cooker. Stir everything together thoroughly to ensure all ingredients are evenly distributed and coated in the sauce.

05

Step

Cover the slow cooker and cook on Low for 6 hours. For the best flavor, refrigerate the cooked beans overnight. Reheat in the slow cooker until warmed through, at least 1 hour, before serving.

For an extra layer of flavor, consider adding a finely chopped bell pepper (any color) along with the onion.
If you prefer a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or a dash of hot sauce to the sauce mixture.
These beans are delicious served with cornbread, coleslaw, or grilled meats.
