For a thicker chili, mash some of the beans against the side of the pot. If you prefer a soupier consistency, add a cup or two of water or beef broth. Customize the heat level by adding a pinch of cayenne pepper or a dash of your favorite hot sauce. Serve with your favorite toppings such as shredded cheese, sour cream, chopped cilantro, or green onions. This chili is even better the next day, as the flavors have more time to develop.
