Follow The Directions

01

Step
5 mins

Preheat the oven to 275 degrees F (135 degrees C). Place a small rack inside a Dutch oven. (5 minutes)

02

Step
3 mins

In a small bowl, whisk together apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper (if using). (3 minutes)

03

Step
2 mins

Rub pork roast generously with barbeque spice rub, ensuring it's evenly coated. (2 minutes)

04

Step
1 mins

Pour the vinegar mixture over the pork roast. (1 minute)

05

Step
6 hrs

Place the roast on the rack in the Dutch oven. Cover and cook in the preheated oven until the roast is easily shredded with a fork, approximately 6-7 hours. (6 hours)

06

Step
20 mins

Remove the Dutch oven from the oven. Let the roast rest for 20 minutes before shredding. (20 minutes)

07

Step
10 mins

Shred the pork roast with two forks, discarding any excess fat. (10 minutes)

08

Step
5 mins

Return the shredded pork to the Dutch oven with some of the accumulated roasting juices and a generous amount of barbeque sauce. (5 minutes)

09

Step
30 mins

Place the Dutch oven on the stovetop over medium-low heat. Let simmer, stirring occasionally, for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. The sauce should thicken slightly. (30 minutes)

For a richer flavor, sear the pork roast on all sides in the Dutch oven before adding the spice rub and vinegar mixture.
Use a high-quality barbecue sauce that complements the pork's flavor. Experiment with different styles (e.g., Kansas City, Texas, Memphis) to find your favorite.
If the sauce becomes too thick during simmering, add a splash of apple cider vinegar or water to thin it out.
Serve the pulled pork on toasted brioche buns with coleslaw, pickles, and your favorite BBQ sides.
