Follow The Directions

01

Step

In a large skillet or saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and cook until softened and translucent, about 5 minutes.

02

Step

Add minced garlic to the skillet and cook for another minute, until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.

03

Step

Stir in drained tuna and chopped tomatoes (with their juices). Cook for about 3 minutes, until heated through and slightly softened.

04

Step

Gently mix in the halved black olives, dried basil, and dried oregano. Season generously with freshly ground black pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.

05

Step

Pour in the tomato puree, stir well to combine, and bring the sauce to a gentle simmer. Cover the skillet, reduce heat to low, and let simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.

06

Step

While the sauce simmers, bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a rolling boil. Add angel hair pasta and cook according to package directions, usually around 4 minutes, or until al dente.

07

Step

Drain the pasta well and divide it among serving bowls. Top generously with the tomato, tuna, and olive sauce. Sprinkle with freshly grated Parmesan cheese and serve immediately.

For an extra layer of flavor, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce while simmering.
Fresh basil or oregano can be substituted for dried herbs; use about 1 tablespoon of fresh herbs for every teaspoon of dried.
If you prefer a smoother sauce, you can use an immersion blender to partially blend the sauce before serving.
Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently on the stovetop or in the microwave.
