Follow The Directions

01

Step

Cook the Macaroni: In a large pot, bring water to a rolling boil over high heat. Add the macaroni pasta from the dinner mix and cook, stirring occasionally, until al dente, about 7-8 minutes. Drain well and return the pasta to the pot.

02

Step

Create the Mac and Cheese Base: Stir in the cheese sauce from the dinner mix, milk, and margarine into the cooked pasta. Add the shredded Cheddar cheese and mix until everything is well combined and the cheese is melted and smooth. (5 minutes)

03

Step

Chill and Firm: Transfer the macaroni and cheese mixture to a bowl. Cover and refrigerate until completely firm, at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight. (2 hours minimum)

04

Step

Shape into Balls: Once chilled, scoop the macaroni and cheese into 1 1/2-inch balls. Place the balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. (15 minutes)

05

Step

Freeze the balls: Place the baking sheet with mac and cheese balls in the freezer for 1 hour to harden up.

06

Step

Prepare for Air Frying: Preheat your air fryer to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) according to the manufacturer's instructions. Spray the air fryer basket with nonstick cooking spray. (5 minutes)

07

Step

Set up the Breading Station: In a bowl, place the beaten eggs. In a separate shallow bowl, combine the panko bread crumbs, seasoned bread crumbs, salt, and garlic powder. (5 minutes)

08

Step

Bread the Mac and Cheese Balls: Dip each frozen macaroni and cheese ball into the beaten eggs, ensuring it's fully coated. Then, press the egg-covered ball into the bread crumb mixture, making sure it's evenly coated. (15 minutes)

09

Step

Air Fry to Golden Perfection: Place the breaded macaroni and cheese balls into the prepared air fryer basket in a single layer, ensuring there's space between each ball. You may need to cook in batches. Cook for 6-8 minutes, then flip the balls and continue cooking for another 3-4 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy. (10-12 minutes per batch)

10

Step

Serve Immediately: Remove the air-fried mac and cheese balls from the air fryer and serve immediately. Enjoy!

For an extra cheesy flavor, add a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese to the bread crumb mixture.
Feel free to experiment with different types of cheese in the mac and cheese mixture. Gouda or Gruyere would add a delicious twist.
If you don't have an air fryer, you can bake these in a preheated oven at 400 degrees F (200 degrees C) for about 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown, flipping halfway through.
Make sure the mac and cheese is fully chilled before shaping into balls; otherwise, they will be difficult to handle.
To prevent sticking, ensure your air fryer basket is well-sprayed with nonstick cooking spray.
