For a deeper flavor, let the ham sit at room temperature for 30 minutes before baking. If the glaze starts to brown too quickly, loosely tent the ham with foil. Serve with your favorite side dishes for a memorable meal.
Transform an ordinary ham into a culinary masterpiece with this aromatic Garlic Baked Ham. Infused with the bold flavors of garlic, the sweetness of pineapple, and a hint of spice, this recipe is sure to impress.
Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). (5 minutes)
Pat the ham dry with paper towels. Place ham cut-side down in a shallow roasting pan.
Using a sharp knife, cut 20 small slits all over the ham. Insert a slivered garlic clove into each slit. Press whole cloves evenly into the surface of the ham. Cover the ham tightly with aluminum foil.
Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour and 20 minutes.
While the ham is baking, prepare the glaze. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the pineapple juice, brown sugar, dry mustard powder, and ground ginger.
Remove the foil from the ham. Pour the pineapple juice glaze evenly over the ham.
Continue baking, uncovered, until the glaze thickens and the ham is beautifully caramelized, about 45 minutes more. Baste the ham with the glaze every 15 minutes during this final baking time.
Remove the ham from the oven and let it rest for 5 to 10 minutes before slicing. Remove the garlic and whole cloves before carving.
For a deeper flavor, let the ham sit at room temperature for 30 minutes before baking. If the glaze starts to brown too quickly, loosely tent the ham with foil. Serve with your favorite side dishes for a memorable meal.
