Follow The Directions

01

Step

Prepare the Chicken: Rinse the chicken breasts and pat them dry with paper towels. In a plastic bag, combine 1/4 cup flour, salt, and pepper. Add the chicken breasts, a few at a time, and shake to coat evenly. (5 minutes)

02

Step

Sear the Chicken: Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the coated chicken breasts and cook for 8 to 10 minutes, turning once, until golden brown and cooked through. Reduce heat if necessary to prevent burning. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside to keep warm, reserving any drippings in the pan. (10 minutes)

03

Step

Make the Lemon Sauce: In a jar with a tight-fitting lid, combine the chicken broth and 3 tablespoons of flour. Seal the jar and shake vigorously until smooth. Pour the mixture into the skillet with the reserved drippings. (2 minutes)

04

Step

Simmer the Sauce: Cook and stir the sauce over medium heat until it thickens and begins to bubble. Continue cooking and stirring for 1 minute longer to ensure the flour is fully cooked and the sauce is smooth. (3 minutes)

05

Step

Finish the Sauce: Stir in the lemon juice and sugar into the sauce. Heat through, stirring until well combined. Taste and adjust seasonings as needed. (2 minutes)

06

Step

Serve: Spoon the creamy lemon sauce over the chicken breasts. Garnish with fresh chives and serve immediately with your favorite sides.

For an extra layer of flavor, try adding a clove of minced garlic to the pan when melting the butter.
If you don't have fresh chives, dried chives or parsley can be used as a substitute.
To make the sauce even richer, stir in a tablespoon of heavy cream or sour cream at the end.

The sauce was a little too tart for my taste, so I added a little more sugar. It was perfect!
